Halle Berry’s Storm isn’t brewing for Marvel’s next big superhero showdown. Despite a wave of speculation, the Oscar-winning actress has confirmed that she will not be reprising her role in _Avengers: Doomsday_, the upcoming 2026 installment in the _Avengers_ franchise.
The rumors ignited after Marvel unveiled a teaser featuring the names of returning X-Men stars, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Kelsey Grammer (The Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and James Marsden (Cyclops). However, when Berry was asked about her involvement at CinemaCon 2025, she shut the speculation down fast.
“Keep waiting,” she said in an interview with _Black Girl Nerds_. “It’s not gonna be there.”
Berry, who played the iconic weather-controlling mutant in the original _X-Men_ trilogy and later returned for _X-Men: Days of Future Past_ in 2014, had previously left the door open for a possible comeback. In a 2024 interview, she teased, “You never know. We’ll find out.” But now, it seems that Marvel’s newest mega-movie will have to weather the storm without her.
Interestingly, Berry isn’t the only big name absent from the project. Chris Evans, who played Captain America, has also made it clear that he won’t be returning. “That’s not true,” he told _Esquire_ in January when asked about rumors of a comeback. “Happily retired!”
Meanwhile, Marvel has confirmed that the star-studded cast of _Avengers: Doomsday_ will feature a mix of classic X-Men actors and established _Avengers_ stars. Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (the new Captain America), Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) are all set to appear. But the biggest shock? Robert Downey Jr. is making a return to the franchise—not as Iron Man, but as the film’s villain, Doctor Doom.
With _Avengers: Doomsday_ scheduled for release in 2026 and its sequel, _Avengers: Secret Wars_, planned for 2027, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is headed for another high-stakes battle. But for now, it looks like Berry’s Storm has officially cleared from the forecast.
