Sean "Diddy" Combs has been transferred from a federal prison in New Jersey to a facility in Pennsylvania, days after he was hospitalized for a head injury and amid conflicting reports about an alleged fight with another inmate.
Combs was moved from the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania on Friday, October 16, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed to multiple outlets.
"For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not discuss the conditions of confinement for any individual in our custody, including reasons for transfer," a Bureau of Prisons representative told Entertainment Weekly.
Combs' spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, welcomed the move, saying the bureau was taking his client's safety seriously.
"We appreciate the Bureau of Prisons taking the safety and security of Sean and everyone involved seriously," Engelmayer said. "His transfer from one low-security facility to another is an important distinction, and while we cannot speak to the BOP's specific reasons for the move, it is consistent with a decision made with safety and security in mind."
He added, "We are grateful for the attention being given to his well-being and hope he can continue serving his time without unnecessary disruption."
The transfer follows Combs' hospitalization on Saturday, October 10, after he reportedly sustained a head injury while incarcerated at Fort Dix. He was taken to an outside medical facility and returned to prison later that day.
Reports about the injury claimed he was injured during a physical altercation with fellow inmate Christopher Coke, known as "Dudus," a Jamaican drug lord serving a 23-year sentence.
The alleged fight was reportedly linked to inmates' anger over an NBC News report detailing claims that Combs had access to special privileges behind bars, including a cellphone, alcohol and massages.
However, the Bureau of Prisons reportedly described claims of an altercation between Combs and Coke as "false" and said the incident "did not happen."
Combs' family has also disputed reports of a fight. According to radio personality Loren LoRosa, who said she spoke with a family member, the family insisted there had been no physical altercation and was uncertain what caused the injury.
