Kevin Hart has asked a judge to prevent Montia Sabbag, the woman involved in his 2017 adult film controversy, from testifying in his legal dispute with former assistant Miesha Shakes, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The request follows Shakes’ submission of a witness list naming Sabbag as someone who could testify about the controversy and her subsequent litigation against Hart.
Hart is suing Shakes over an interview with blogger Tasha K in which she discussed his personal life. He alleges that she breached a non-disclosure agreement signed when she left his company. Shakes, who worked for Hart from 2017 to 2020, argues that the agreement is unenforceable because he failed to fulfil other obligations under their deal.
In the latest filing, Hart alleges that Shakes submitted her witness list without first consulting his legal team, which he contends was improper. He also argues that naming Sabbag was intended to embarrass him and generate publicity, rather than provide evidence relevant to the dispute.
Hart has asked the court to exclude Sabbag and other proposed witnesses unless Shakes can establish that their testimony relates to the issues in the case. He maintains that only he, Shakes and Tasha K are relevant witnesses. The comedian alleges that Shakes’ interview damaged his reputation and is seeking unspecified damages.
