Usher is set to add another prestigious accolade to his already impressive collection. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced that the acclaimed R&B artist will be honored with the Voice of the Culture Award. This recognition will be bestowed upon Usher during ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Music Songwriters and Publishers event on June 27.

The Voice of the Culture Award is presented to ASCAP members who have made significant contributions to music and culture. Usher, an eight-time Grammy winner, certainly fits this criterion. In a statement, he reflected on his artistic journey: “Artistic development is a lifelong journey of experimentation that requires risk for reward, embracing unknowns, trusting your intuition, and believing in your creative vision and God-given talent.”

Usher recently concluded a successful two-year Las Vegas residency, "Usher: My Way" at the Park MGM, showcasing his enduring talent and stagepresence. February marked the release of his first solo album in eight years, and he is set to embark on a 24-city U.S. tour titled “Past Present Future” in August.

Usher's influence extends beyond his music to memorable performances, such as his acclaimed Super Bowl halftime show, which featured guestappearances by Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, and Ludacris. His album “Confessions,” which has sold over 10 million units in the U.S., remains one of the best-selling music projects of all time, featuring chart-topping hits like “Yeah!” with Ludacris and Lil Jon, “Burn,” and “Confessions Part II.”Expressing his gratitude, Usher stated, “It means the world to me that my peers, this community of passionate and distinguished songwriters, composers, and authors are inspired by my execution of the craft.”

In addition to Usher, singer Victoria Monét will also be honored at the event with the Vanguard Award. This award celebrates ASCAP members whoare shaping the future of music. Monét, who won three Grammys earlier this year, including Best New Artist and R&B Album for “Jaguar II,”has been praised for her songwriting and artistic prowess.

Paul Williams, ASCAP's chairman of the board and president, lauded Monét, saying, “Victoria Monét has proven herself not only as an illuminating songwriter, but also as a flourishing artist and ASCAP member who continues to break barriers. Her resilience, talent, and exemplary work ethic have helped her become a multi-award-winning singer and songwriter.”
