A wave of high-profile sponsorship withdrawals has hit the Wireless Festival following the controversial decision to book Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, as the 2026 headliner. On Monday, April 6, 2026, beverage giants Pepsi and Diageo officially severed ties with the event, citing the rapper’s history of antisemitic rhetoric and past praise for Nazi ideology.
The fallout was triggered by the announcement that Ye would serve as the sole headliner for all three nights of the festival at Finsbury Park this July. The move drew immediate condemnation from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who labeled the booking “deeply concerning” and emphasized that antisemitism must be confronted clearly and firmly.
Pepsi, the festival’s primary partner since 2015, was the first to pull its support. The event, which has long been branded as “Pepsi MAX Presents Wireless,” is now facing a massive rebrand just months before it begins. Hours later, the spirits powerhouse Diageo, owner of brands including Guinness, Johnnie Walker, and Captain Morgan, confirmed it would no longer sponsor the 2026 edition, stating that the booking does not align with its corporate values.
The withdrawal of these anchor sponsors leaves a multi-million dollar hole in the festival’s budget and has cast serious doubt on whether the event will proceed. Other partners, including Budweiser and PayPal, are reportedly facing similar public pressure to withdraw.
As of Tuesday, April 7, festival organizers have not commented on whether they will replace Ye or if the festival will be canceled entirely. Meanwhile, some UK political figures have signaled that Ye could potentially be blocked from entering the country under “public good” powers, further complicating the future of the residency.
This financial crisis is compounded by a growing boycott movement from smaller independent vendors and local food contractors who have traditionally serviced the Finsbury Park site. Several prominent London-based catering groups released a joint statement on Monday morning, declaring their refusal to operate stalls at any event headlined by the rapper. With both major corporate funding and essential onsite logistics collapsing simultaneously, industry analysts suggest that Festival Republic may be forced to issue a formal cancellation or a total lineup overhaul within the next forty- eight hours to save the festival’s long-term reputation.
