Victory Boyd, a singer-songwriter signed to Roc Nation, has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Travis Scott, SZA, and Future, alleging that their song "Telekinesis" from Scott's 2023 album Utopia unlawfully incorporates elements of her 2019 track, "Like the Way It Sounds."

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, claims Boyd initially shared her song with Kanye West in 2019. West reportedly recorded his version, titled "Ultrasounds," during sessions in Wyoming. Boyd alleges that Scott accessed the song in a studio where she left her original work, and later, Scott, SZA, and Future used the lyrics and melodies without her consent. Boyd's legal team asserts, "Scott gained access to the studio plaintiff left the original work in and began creating the infringing work."

The suit highlights notable similarities between the two tracks, accusing the defendants of "intentional and willful" copyright infringement. Although Boyd was credited as a co-writer for "Telekinesis," she claims she was unaware of its commercial release until 2023. She rejected an offer of 8% writing credit, insisting she never authorized the use of her song, as she had planned to release her version under Roc Nation.

The lawsuit also implicates multiple entities, including Scott’s label, Cactus Jack Records, producer Jahaan Sweet, Sony Music Entertainment, and luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet. The latter allegedly used "Telekinesis" in an advertising campaign without securing Boyd's permision. The suit states, "The defendants and AP partnered to publish and commercially release an advertising campaign broadcasting the infringing work over the plaintiff’s objection.

Boyd is demanding the destruction of all copies of music derived from her original work and seeks damages, profits, and interest. She also requests a detailed account of all revenue generated from the song's distribution and marketing. Furthermore, the lawsuit calls for an injunction to prevent further use of the disputed track.

Representatives for Scott, SZA, and Future have yet to comment on the allegations.

Noushin Faraji, former Fox Sports 1 has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court and has dropped serious allegations against FS1 host Joy Taylor, Former host Skip Bayless, Fox Sports VP Charlie Dixon and the Fox corporation. In the lawsuit, Faraji centers her claims on sexual harassment, sexual battery, retaliation and a hostile work environment. She also accuses Joy Taylor of using sexual relationships with Dixon and ex-NFL star and co-host Emmanuel Acho to advance her career.

“Ms. Faraji brings forth this action because for over a decade at Fox, she was forced to endure a misogynistic, racist, and ableist workplace where executives and talent were allowed to physically and verbally abuse workers with impunity,” the suit states. “When Ms. Faraji and others came forward to report the wrongdoing, instead of addressing their concerns, Fox retaliated against them while the perpetrators and those who protected them were inexplicitly promoted.”

Beyoncé has extended her support to communities affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, donating $2.5 million through her BeyGOOD foundation. The announcement, shared on Instagram on Sunday, Jan. 12, revealed that the funds would go toward the newly established L.A. Fire Relief Fund created by her charity.

“Los Angeles, we stand with you. ” the post read. The donation will support families in the Altadena and Pasadena areas who have lost their homes. Additionally, it will aid churches and community centers in addressing the urgent needs of wildfire survivors.

The foundation encouraged others to contribute and learn more about its efforts by visiting the BeyGOOD website. Beyoncé launched BeyGOOD in 2013 to support various social and environmental causes.

The donation follows news of the wildfire’s rising death toll, which reached 24 as of Sunday evening, according to the L.A. County Medical Examiner. Sixteen of the fatalities occurred in the Eaton fire zone, while eight were reported near the Palisades area. The Palisades fire has burned over 23,000 acres with only 11% containment, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna reported that at least 16 individuals remain missing since the wildfires began on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The wildfire crisis has inspired many celebrities to lend their support. Actress Tika Sumpter and Halle Berry donated personal goods, while others provided financial assistance. Despite losing her Malibu home to the flames, Paris Hilton pledged $100,000 to support fire victims and promised to match additional donations up to $100,000.

Eva Longoria also contributed $50,000 to the nonprofit organization This Is About Humanity. She shared an emotional video on Instagram, emphasizing the urgency of relief efforts. “I don’t think it’s the time to analyze what went wrong,” Longoria said. “We’ve got to focus on the situation right now. To everyone out there helping, thank you.”

The wildfires, which began earlier this month, have caused widespread destruction and displacement, with countless families left in need of shelter and resources. Beyoncé’s donation and the collective efforts of others aim to bring relief and hope to those affected during this difficult time
