Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was arrested on Tuesday, July 22, on felony drug charges following a burglary at her home in Forsyth County, Georgia. The arrest occurred after the rapper turned herself in at the Forsyth County Jail. She was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and was released the same day after posting a $22,260 bond.

The incident began early Saturday morning, July 20, when deputies responded to a burglary call at Woods' residence at approximately 1:30 a.m. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, three unidentified suspects had broken into the home while GloRilla was away. An occupant inside fired at the intruders, prompting them to flee. No injuries were reported.

While investigating the break-in, deputies detected "a strong odour consistent with illegal narcotics," which led them to obtain a search warrant. Authorities later discovered what they described as a "significant amount of marijuana" in plain sight in the master bedroom closet, along with another controlled substance.

Sheriff Ron Freeman addressed the dual nature of the case, stating, "The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case." As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the burglary, and the suspects remain at large.

Despite the legal developments, GloRilla managed to fulfil a major career engagement the same day as the break-in. She performed at the WNBA All-Star Game halftime show in Indianapolis, delivering a set that included "Let Her Cook," "Typa," and "TGIF" at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

This is not the first time the rapper has encountered legal trouble in Georgia. In April 2024, she was arrested in Gwinnett County on charges including DUI, possession of suspected marijuana, and an open container violation. Body camera footage from that arrest circulated widely online.

In response to the latest charges, GloRilla's legal team criticized the focus of law enforcement. According to TMZ, the team issued a statement calling the arrest "a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become," arguing that authorities concentrated on minor drug possession while the burglars remain unapprehended.

As the investigation continues, GloRilla has yet to issue a public statement regarding the charges.
