Rapper Waka Flocka has publicly shown his support for newly elected president Donald Trump, an act that has led his D.C meet and greet be canceled. The 38-year-old, whose given name is Juaquin James Malphurs, took to X, formerly Twitter to remind people of his political leanings. “I’m stilling voting for Trump!!!! Let’s be clear!!!!!” he wrote on in a post that went viral with more than 2.5 million views at the time of writing.
“ I love and respect my community first and foremost. I am not a huge political or music person, and I truly had no idea about the views of Waka Flocka flame nor do I share his views! My community has spoken and the event for tomorrow has been… CANCELLED,” Lax Wine and spirits Instagram page wrote, alongside a crossed photo of Flocka.
After the cancellation of his meet and greet, the rapper took to social media to share a lengthy post. “ Imagine living in a country that was built on free speech to ultimately find out that free speech is only given to those who don’t go against the system,” he began. “A lot of y’all need to wake up, y’all bring used for a bigger agenda. Free speech is free speech. My decision for who I vote for is my decision.”
He continued, “Y’all talking about freedoms? One of my meet and greet events in DC was canceled today because of some people’s opinion. Because they harassed a liquor store until they cancelled the shit. Then they spin it like I did something wrong for having an opinion. That’s freedom?”
Waka Flocka was scheduled for a D.C. meet-and-greet on November 8 th , but it endedmup getting canceled. Lax Wine and Spirits, the event location, appeared to cancel due to his political views. The company posted and later deleted a statement on Instagram that the local community had asked Waka to stay away because of his political stance.
