Ariana Grande has announced a remix of her song The Boy Is Mine from the Eternal Sunshine album, featuring the original artists Brandy and Monica. Grande revealed this exciting news on Instagram, expressing her disbelief: I ……… cannot believe this is real (I don’t know if I will even long after it’s out).& The remix will be released on June 21.
Grande's version of The Boy Is Mine draws direct inspiration from Brandy and Monica's Grammy-winning 1998 hit. She thanked the two R&B legends for their participation and influence, saying, My deepest and sincerest thank you to Brandy and Monica, not only for joining me for this moment, but for your generosity, your kindness, and for the countless ways in which you have inspired me. It is near impossible to say how much this means to me.
This collaboration isn't the first time Grande has paid tribute to Brandy, whom she has previously described as one of her & most inspirational female singers. In a 2013 Billboard article, Grande praised Brandy's vocal precision and the sweetness of her voice, sharing, I’m obsessed with the sweetness of her voice and I love her songs. Her riffs are also incredibly on point.
The Boy Is Mine is a standout track on Grande's Eternal Sunshine album, which was released in March and explores themes of personal turmoil and resilience. Grande shared her gratitude with her fans in a heartfelt Instagram post, saying, This album is most special to me for many reasons and just holds so much. Sharing it has re-opened a lot of little and big feelings alike, and it has been an emotional week in many ways! … but your
overwhelmingly loving response to it all has made me feel such joyful, human connection and comfort.
