Rumors first began swirling in May 2025, when Simmons posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Story: “I want. What wants me in life. In all areas. What flows FLOWS. What goes GOES.” The post followed an insider’s claim to Media Take Out that the couple, who had been together since 2023, had quietly split.
According to that source, tensions had been growing as Simmons felt she was “putting in more effort than she was getting back.” Yo Gotti’s intense career commitments such as studio work, business ventures and appearances left her feeling deprioritized. Additionally, the insider noted that Simmons grew frustrated with Gotti’s rapport with labelmate GloRilla.
Following the cryptic message, Angela Simmons recently opened up about her breakup with Yo Gotti during a candid interview on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, confirming that the decision to part ways came from her and that she still holds respect for him. She explained, “It’s not by choice… but it was what was best” and clarified her role in ending the relationship: “I wouldn’t have chose it, but it was what was best…I’m a lover, I love love, I love relationships…it was my decision.”
Simmons emphasized that she threw herself fully into the relationship, saying, “when I’m in love, I’m in love” but acknowledged it no longer felt right, stating her feelings led her to make that difficult call. She also pointed out that some details are better kept private, noting “some stuff is better left unsaid,” yet expressed ongoing warmth, remarking, “Much love and respect to him. He’s doing his thing, I’m happy for him.”
Additionally, Simmons described this phase of her life as a period of personal growth and reflection, calling it a “growing season” and a “healing season,” signaling that she views this split not just as an ending, but as a new beginning.
