Jay-Z has taken legal action against the anonymous woman who accused him of sexual assault, following her decision to drop the lawsuit. The rapper and business mogul, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is suing the woman and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, for malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy.
The lawsuit, filed in Alabama federal court, claims the woman has now admitted that the allegations were false and that Buzbee pressured her into making the accusations. According to Jay-Z’s legal team, the case was part of a scheme to extort a settlement by using fabricated claims. “Mr. Carter does not commence this action lightly,” his lawyers stated, adding that the alleged extortion attempts must stop.
However, the woman, who initially sued Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs for allegedly drugging and raping her when she was 13, maintains her story. She claims she dropped the lawsuit due to intimidation, not because the allegations were untrue. In legal documents, she recounts beingapproached by two individuals outside her home, who she says pressured her to sign an affidavit recanting her claims. “I felt intimidated and terrified at being confronted by these two individuals on my doorstep,” she stated. The woman also alleges that her parents were approached by investigators asking similar questions.
Buzbee has strongly denied Jay-Z’s allegations, calling the lawsuit “baloney” and claiming it is an attempt to silence his client. He further accused Jay-Z’s team of harassment, stating, “Shawn Carter’s investigators have repeatedly harassed, threatened, and harangued this poor woman for weeks trying to intimidate her and make her recant her story. She won’t.”
Jay-Z, who has consistently denied the allegations, previously called the claims a “blackmail attempt.” He argues that the lawsuit was part of a broader pattern of false accusations against high-profile celebrities. His legal team contends that the woman’s accusations were designed to damage his reputation and force a payout.
Despite the lawsuit being dismissed without explanation or financial settlement, Jay-Z has expressed frustration that false claims can be made without repercussions. “When they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed,” he stated.
Now, with the new lawsuit, Jay-Z is seeking legal consequences for what he claims was an effort to “assassinate his impeccable and lifetime earned character.” Meanwhile, Buzbee has suggested that more legal battles could follow, signaling that the case is far from over.
