Irving Domingo, famously known as Irv Gotti was an American music producer, whose death has had a tremendous impact on the music industry. He died at the age of 54 years after shaping the 1990s hip-hop. He is most popular for co-founding the music record label, murder inc. He has created and produced music for prominent artists like Jenifer Lopez, Ja Rule, Ashanti and many others.

 

Ja Rule, the first signee to murder inc saw massive commercial success with hits like Always on Time and Holla Holla. During Gotti’s funeral, Ja Rule gave a heartfelt and passionate speech. “I just want to say Irv, I love you. Everyone in this room loves you. You touched everybody in your own way and I know everybody has their moments of that with him. So, we’re all here in celebration of your life because it will live on forever. I love you my brother; see you when I get there,” he said.

According to TMZ Hip Hop, many popular attended the service at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York, including artists whose careers Gotti shaped. Jay-Z, Fat Joe, Ashanti and Gayle King were among those who paid their respects to Irv.

Irv Gotti died as a result of a stroke just months after revealing his struggles with diabetes and previously suffering from one. He had also suffered from a brain bleed before his death.  At that time, his representatives had reported that he had changed his diet and was recovering successfully.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving ‘Irv Gotti’ Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. Surrounded by family and friends, he departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and the countless lives he touched,” his family wrote. “Our dad was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the hip-hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans alike. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to influence future generations.”
