The Associated Press has come forward to issue a formal apology to legendary singer Babyface after the Grammys controversy. During the 67 th Grammy Awards event, the singer was interrupted by AP reporters mid interview so that they could speak to Chappell Roan. After a clip of the incident went viral, many social media users were appalled by the situation.

“That’s unacceptable. You don’t do that shit to anyone, but ESPECIALLY someone like Babyface! All of his contributions to music?! AP needs to issue an apology,” one person wrote. “Wow. That is the most disrespectful shit ever. Especially speaking to a legend like Babyface. DURING BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT THAT!” another fan echoed. Some users called for the reporters to be fired, writing, “ That was so unprofessional, talking to THEE Babyface but interrupting it for Chappell Roan?? It’s just straight up disrespectful no matter who the person is, they should be fired for that.”

The incident also caught the attention of stars such as Khloe Kardashian who expressed her disappointment. “This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview,” the 40-year-old wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) later that day, along with a clip of the Associated Press interview. “Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. Its maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this.”

After the backlash on social media, the Associated Press issued an apology, writing, “We are deeply sorry for cutting out interview with Babyface short on our YouTube Livestream of the Grammys red carpet. We have apologized to him through his representative and to our viewers on the Livestream.”
