Rapper Sexyy Red has issued an apology to Bernice King, Martin Luther King’s daughter, following a disrespectful AI photo. Red posted an AI photo of herself with Dr. King and in the photo, they were maintaining eye contact while holding hands in what appears to be a club.

Bernice King referred to the photo as “intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable and disrespectful to her family.” She went ahead to say the photo is disrespectful to her, father who is “not here to defend himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil right and to end the war and poverty.” She concluded by telling the rapper to delete the photo.

She also doubled down on her thoughts regarding Sexyy Red claiming she does not think the rapper is “ghetto,” “degenerate” or “Trash.” She added, “I just don’t understand this type of use of my father’s image, in a way that does not convey what we know to be true about his service and sacrifice. Even if you disagree with him or his tactics or even believe things said about him by people who hated him, why do this?”

Sexyy Red took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to apologize to Bernice King. She wrote, “You ain’t wrong, never meant to disrespect your family my apologies. Just reposted something I saw that I thought was innocent.”
