The hip-hop community mourns the loss of Patrick Houston Jr., son of renowned rapper Project Pat, who was tragically killed in a Memphis park on January 12. Houston, 21, was shot in the Imogene Heights neighborhood, a historically Black area in Memphis, Tennessee.

Memphis police reported that the shooting occurred just after 1 PM. Upon arrival, officers found Houston dead from an apparent gunshot wound. While details surrounding the incident remain unclear, authorities urge anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.

Houston’s untimely death has left his family and fans in shock. The funeral service is scheduled for January 25, though further details have not been disclosed. Born on May 23, 2002, Patrick was described as a young man with much ahead of him.

Project Pat, born Patrick Earl Houston, is widely celebrated for his contributions to hip-hop. Rising to fame in the 1990s, he was a member of the group Killa Klan Kaze, also known as The Kaze, which released its debut album, Kamakazie Timez Up, in 1998. Pat’s career peaked with the release of his 2001 album, Mista Don't Play: Everythangs Workin, which was certified gold by the RIAA. The album came out just months before his son Patrick was born.

In addition to his music career, Project Pat is also the founder of the Go Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on prison ministry and
motivational speaking. He has frequently used his platform to inspire and uplift those facing challenges.

Patrick Houston Jr. was also the nephew of Juicy J, co-founder of the legendary rap group Three 6 Mafia. Project Pat himself gained recognition through his collaborations with the group, including memorable contributions like the hook on their hit Sippin' on Some Syrup.

As of now, investigations into the circumstances of the shooting continue. Patrick Houston Jr. is remembered as a beloved son whose life
was tragically cut short. He will be laid to rest on Saturday. May he rest in peace.
