Bad Bunny recently reflected on his journey through adulthood and how his perspective on aging has evolved over the years. In an interview on The Zane Lowe Show on Apple Music 1, the 30-year-old Latin trap star, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, opened up about his struggles with turning 20 and how he’s grown since then.
"I’m still young, but I just turned 30," Bad Bunny shared. "I remember when I turned 20, I was depressed. I thought my life was over. I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m 20! I’m an old man! I’m about to die!’” At the time, he was juggling studies and a job at a grocery store, which added to his feelings of uncertainty.
Bad Bunny attributes this mindset to being “a very emotional person” who tends to overthink. “Sometimes I overthink everything,” he admitted. However, as he’s grown older, he’s learned to embrace life and trust in the process. "Now, I try not to think too much and just trust in life, God, and the process. I’ve learned to enjoy the moment."
As he entered his 30s, the "MONACO" artist found himself reflecting on life, his career, and the expectations that come with age. “People start asking, ‘Are you going to get married? Are you going to have kids?’ And it makes you question yourself. Am I doing something wrong?” he explained.
Looking back on his decade in the music industry, Bad Bunny is amazed by how far he’s come. "I’ve been reflecting on my life, my history, and my career. It’s crazy to think I’m about to hit 10 years in the industry because, at times, it still feels like my first year or my first album."
Despite his global fame, Bad Bunny remains grounded and introspective. He revealed that he’s always been a shy person, which made forming new friendships difficult. "I’ve always had the same friends since I was a kid because it’s hard for me to step into new social situations. I’m not antisocial, but I have some strange habits from childhood," he admitted.
Bad Bunny’s shyness even extends to basic interactions. "Sometimes I struggle to say ‘hi.’ It’s just who I am," he shared.
The artist recently released his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, on January 5, continuing to make waves in the industry as he reflects on his journey.
