A 26-year-old singer-songwriter from Luton has burst onto the British scene with his latest single, “Stargazing,” released in 2024. The anthemic folk-pop track went straight to number one for six weeks; became the best-selling single for 2024; and was unexpectedly included in Barack Obama’s summer playlist.
Smith’s musical career started in his hometown, performing in local pubs, drawing inspiration from a wide array of artists, including Ed Sheeran. Growing up in a working- class British-Jamaican family, he was exposed to everything from Motown to Green Day, and this eclectic taste shaped his sound.
In 2022, Smith went viral on TikTok with a cover of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather”; the response was overwhelming enough that he quit his job to focus on music full-time. In 2023, he was signed with RCA Records and toured relentlessly, cultivating a devoted following via steady touring and social media interaction.
