John Legend recently sat down for an unforgettable interview conducted by none other than his 8-year-old daughter, Luna. The heartwarming exchange, shared in a video by Billboard, featured discussions about his new children's album My Favorite Dream, parenting, and family love.
The interview opened with playful banter as Luna immediately showcased her negotiation skills. Responding to Legend's statement about limiting her smartphone access until age 16 due to concerns over social media dangers, Luna cheekily proposed, "How about we compromise on nine?" Her father laughed heartily, applauding her effort to strike a deal.
Legend, who shares four children—Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren—with Chrissy Teigen, explained his inspiration for creating the children's album. "Now that I have four kids, and I've watched all of you guys react to music and fall in love with music in different ways, I felt like I was inspired to write an album for my kids and then for all the other kids that are out there and their parents, too," he said.
Luna's involvement in the project extended beyond the interview. She contributed to the album's artwork and lent her voice to a track titled "L-O-V-E." Released in August, My Favorite Dream was co-produced by indie artist Sufjan Stevens and features songs crafted to resonate with children and their families.
In one touching moment, Luna asked her father, "What do you love most about our family?" Legend responded thoughtfully, saying, "I think it's the most pure love you can have— the love you have for your family. When me and mommy look at you and look at your brothers and your sister, we see ourselves, and we want to pour all of this knowledge and all these lessons we've learned in life into you and help you become the best adults you can be."
The delightful 10-minute interview revealed Luna's natural interviewing talent and provided a glimpse into the tight-knit family's dynamic.
