Kirsten Corley, Chance the rapper’s wife took to her Instagram to announce that the pair have decided to part ways. “After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition,” she wrote.
This is after she shared a post on social media claiming that people don’t grow, they marry… have the nerve to have children but don’t grow up. “Most people don’t grow up, it’s too damn difficult. What happens is that most people get older. That’s the truth of it. They honor their credit cards, they find parking spaces, they marry, they have the nerve to have children but they don’t grow up. Not really. They get older,” the post reads.
It continued, “But to grow up costs the earth, the earth. It means you take responsibility for the time you take up, for the space you occupy, it’s serious business. And you find out what it costs us to love and to lose, to dare and to fail. And even more, to succeed.”
The filing comes months after she announced on her Instagram that her and Chance were separated. The couple has had a few public issues since they got married in 2019 in Newport Beach, California, including a viral video of Chance dancing with other women at Carnival. Documentation has not yet been released on their reasonings for filing and the couple has been low-key in the spotlight when it comes to their relationship overall. Chance the Rapper has not posted anything regarding the divorce on his page.
