Singer, entrepreneur and actress Selena Gomez took to social media to announce her engagement to singer and songwriter, Benny Blanco. The actress and singer posted a picture of a large engagement ring on Instagram, with the caption “forever begins now”. This comes after the couple confirmed their relationship last year. Gomez, who was just nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in “Emilia Pérez,” also shared a photo of the ring on Instagram Stories, which InStyle describes as an 8-carat marquise-shaped diamond.
Blanco couldn’t help but share his excitement on social media, commenting on his new fiancée’s Instagram post. “Hey wait… that’s my wife,” he wrote. It didn’t take long for Gomez’s peers and loved ones to congratulate her on the engagement. Her close friend Taylor Swift was one of the first to like her post — then volunteer herself for an important position in the wedding party. “Yes I will be the flower girl,” she commented.
Jennifer Aniston, Gomez’s first comedy inspiration who has since become a friend, shared her excitement in the comments. “HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama!” she wrote. Gwyneth Paltrow simply yelled, “SELENAAAAAAA.” Lily Collins also gave a sweet message to the couple. “Ahhhhhhhh yes yes yes!!” she wrote. “Best news ever. Couldn’t be more happy for you both.”
Gomez’s “Taki Taki” collaborator Cardi B was stunned, writing “Waiiiitttt hold on” with a slew of emojis. Meanwhile, Gordon Ramsey, who Gomez cooked with on her series Selena + Chef, left a perfectly deadpan comment. “Congratulations to you both it must be the cooking,” he said.
Years before they became an item, Gomez and Blanco collaborated on the producer’s song “I Can’t Get Enough,” which also featured J Balvin and Tainy. In March 2019, the quartet released a music video for the track, complete with flirty shots of the Spring Breakers actress interacting with Blanco in a teddy bear costume.
In late 2023, fans began to speculate that Gomez and Blanco were dating. Gomez confirmed her romance with Blanco in her Instagram story on December 7, 2023. She shared a photo of the couple cuddling and a photo of herself wearing the letter “B” on her left ring finger. Since then, the two stars haven’t been shy about sharing sweet photos of each other on social media, as well as showing their love through custom accessories.
