Singer and Only Fans creator Hugo D. Almonte issues a statement following backlash from social media users. This is after he exposed singer Khalid and made him to publicly declare he is gay, however, Almonte has issued an apology, claiming the main reason he outed the singer was because he was being emotionally abusive. According to Hugo, the two met at a party, started talking for a while then their relationship flourished. Hugo claims that their relationship was characterized by relentless lies, emotional abuse and manipulation.
“I’ve been reflecting deeply on everything that’s happened and it’s time I speak up. I’ve seen the comments, the backlash, and the disappointment,” he began. “I understand why people are upset and I take full responsibility for my actions, I made a mistake – a serious one. I outed someone and that was wrong. No matter the circumstances, it wasn’t my place to reveal something so personal, for that, I am truly sorry.”
Hugo went ahead to accuse Khalid of spreading rumors that he broke into his house and stole from him. He insisted that the rumors were not true and they took a toll on his mental health. “I tried to move on, but the constant lies, manipulation and threats took a toll on my mental health. I was exhausted, emotionally drained and at times I didn’t recognize myself anymore,” he wrote. He also admitted that he hit rock bottom and that made him to expose Khalid.
“Moving forward, I’m focusing on healing… mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I am learning from the experience and working to ensure I never handle conflict in that way again. Thank you to those who have supported me and those who’ve held me accountable. I hear you and I’m taking the steps to change. Thank you.”
