South African singer, Tyla has expressed her disappointment after Vanessa Chidinma withdrew from the Miss South Africa contest. Tyla believes Chidinma was bullied out of the competition. “ I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for.”
Tyla went ahead to express her support for the Chidinma. “Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it!” This comes after Chidinma was invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria by the organizers. Chidinma, born to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother was bullied, with social media users claiming she should not be given a chance to represent South African, despite being born in Soweto.
The South African ministry of home affairs went ahead to launch an investigation, concluding that Chidinma's mother may have committed fraud and identity theft. Chidinma withdrew from the competition, claiming its best for her and her family's safety. After Tyla's remarks on X, some social media users blasted her, with some urging her to delete such a controversial tweet. “She wasn't bullied. She was about to benefit from crime. Which part don't you understand Tyla?”
“The way we South Africans fought tooth and nail for you when Black Americans, Davido stans and Ayra starr stans bullied you for months only for you to push an agenda against US???? All in the name of streams and views?” one disappointed fan wrote. Others went to accuse Tyla of being unpatriotic to South Africa. “That’s why you too focused onvtryna make it in America!! You have no patriotism in you!! You hate South Africa.” “Keep South Africans name out of your mouth when speaking about that girl who stole an identity of a poor South African who had to go to home affairs every 3 months her whole life just to get her id or else…”
“You can’t even stand up for urself when Nigerians bully you everyday but you chose their side.even with evidence provided by home affairs, then you come here and tell us you stand with South Africans?babygirl don’t test us.this matter was put to rest, you should’ve kept quiet.if you want to talk how about congratulate ur fellow South Africans at the olympics the same way we congratulated you on ur achievements.”
