Chicago Sky star Angel Reese continues to make power moves beyond the basketball court. On April 15, the 22-year-old WNBA player announced her latest accomplishment - becoming a homeowner.
Reese shared the news through social media, posting a photo of herself smiling while holding a large cutout of a house key. "Knocked off 2 BIG things off my vision board in the first 4 months of the new year!" she wrote alongside green check emojis indicating "Retired my momma" and "Became a homeowner.
"This achievement comes just three months after Reese fulfilled another major goal - paying off her mother's mortgage. During a January 2025 episode of her podcast "Unapologetically Angel," Reese surprised her mother Angel Webb Reese with the news on her birthday.
"That was my biggest goal in life to retire you and pay your mortgage," Reese told her mother during the emotional moment. She added that her mother could still work if she chose, but would no longer need to for financial reasons.
Reese has frequently credited her mother, a former college and professional basketball player herself, for her success. "She molded me into the woman I am today," Reese has stated, praising her mother's independence in raising her and her brother Julian.
The home purchase marks another financial milestone for Reese, who faced public scrutiny in October 2024 after discussing her WNBA salary. "I just hope y'all know, the WNBA don't pay my bills at all," Reese candidly shared. "I don't even think it pays one of my bills, literally.
"When critics questioned her spending habits, including her $8,000 monthly rent, Reese pointed to her numerous endorsement deals. The basketball phenom has partnered with major brands including Reebok, Hershey's Reese's Pieces, Beats by Dr. Dre, and Good American.
"The deals don't just stop in college," Reese explained. "When you go to the pros, they continue, and I feel like they've grown even more. Now that I'm a pro, I can do so much more.
"Reese's marketability skyrocketed after winning the NCAA national championship with LSU against Iowa and Caitlin Clark in 2023. "I won a natty two years ago today and it changed my life forever," Reese reflected during March Madness 2025.
Her professional career has already produced impressive results. Reese finished her rookie season as the WNBA's leading rebounder and became the first rookie to record a double-double in the All-Star game.
With a signature Reebok shoe slated for release in 2026, Reese continues building her brand while silencing critics. As she noted alongside her homeownership announcement: "All at 22. So blessed."
