Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has departed from Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated Hulu legal drama "All's Fair." The series, which is set to star Kim Kardashian and Glenn Close, lost Berry due to reported scheduling conflicts.
Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix film "The Union" on August 12, 2024, Berry addressed her exit from the project. "You know, things happen for a reason," she told Entertainment Tonight. "I would have loved to have been there with those ladies, and I know it's gonna be great."
The 57-year-old actress, who was originally slated to both star in and produce "All's Fair," expressed no hard feelings about the situation. "It's Ryan Murphy! I mean, you know, duh," Berry added, hinting at the renowned producer's track record of success. "But next time!"
"All's Fair" has been described as a sexy legal drama centered around an all-female law firm in Los Angeles. Kardashian is set to play a top divorce lawyer, though details about Berry's intended role were not disclosed.
While one door closed, another opened for Berry. She's now promoting "The Union," a Netflix comedy spy caper co-starring Mark Wahlberg. In the film, Berry plays Roxanne, the high school sweetheart of Wahlberg's character Mike, who unexpectedly re-enters his life after 25 years and
pulls him into a high-stakes mission.
Berry praised her co-star Wahlberg, telling PEOPLE, "He's a great collaborator. He allowed me space to be me and bring what I needed to bring to it." The actress also noted their shared history, having known each other since the late 1980s.
Reflecting on her action-packed role, Berry shared, "I was a gymnast as a kid, so anytime I get to use my physicality in something and my athleticism, I love it." She added, "I wanted to go to the Olympics as a kid, so now I missed that, but now I get to act out that childhood fantasy through film."
As Berry approaches her 58th birthday on August 14, she remains enthusiastic about her career. "58 never felt better... I feel great!" she exclaimed at the premiere.
