The rapper and the NFL star were filmed during an tense encounter following reports the two had worked through relationship issues.
Cardi B and Stefon Diggs were caught on video in a heated argument.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon (May 13) outside of a coffee shop and gym in Burtonsville, Maryland, according to TMZ.
Video obtained by the outlet showed the rapper seemingly yelling at the NFL star while he stood leaning against his sports car with his arms crossed. At one point, a man accompanying Cardi stepped in and placed a hand on her as if trying to calm her down.
Although the audio in the clip is inaudible, TMZ also reported that a source overheard Cardi say, "That bitch is messy," though it was unclear who she was referring to.
The outlet also said the argument lasted at least 10 minutes and security turned away fans hoping to get Cardi's autograph while the dispute played out.
Not long after the incident went viral, the Bronx rapper issued a response to it via X, formerly Twitter.
"Sometimes I forget I'm a celebrity... damn y'all ain't never cuss your babydad out when you hungry?" she wrote.
The public clash came just days after the two appeared affectionate together at Diggs' Diggs Deep Foundation Mother's Day event.
Their argument comes just one day after People reported that Cardi and Diggs had recently worked through relationship tension following breakup rumors earlier this year.
"Cardi pulled away from the drama in February. She didn't trust him and felt like things were going on behind her back. She wasn't in a place emotionally to deal with fighting and tension," a source told People.
The source added that Cardi "needed to just finish" her Little Miss Drama Tour and "have stability for her kids."
According to People, the source claimed that Cardi "never closed the door completely" on the relationship and that Diggs "stepped it up a few weeks ago and showed her that he wants to make it work."
"It was enough of an effort to get her attention," the source added. "She still cares about him a lot."
They had already fueled speculation in April after Diggs was spotted in attendance at Cardi's Little Miss Drama Tour stop at Capital One Arena.
At that performance, Cardi jokingly told the crowd, "I might get put on my back tonight."
Diggs later appeared at her afterparty at Throw Social before the two reportedly left together.
Rumors that the two were romantically linked began circulating in October 2024 and spent Valentine's Day together in 2025. They became Instagram official that June.
In a September 2025 interview with Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY With Jenna & Friends, Cardi said the two were set up by "mutual friends."
"I thought he was cute," Cardi said at the time. "I was like, 'Oh, he's gotta be mine.'"
A source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight in early February that Cardi and Diggs ended their relationship. The source also mentioned at the time that not all hope for a reconciliation isn't lost.
"It's possible they get back together and this could just be for right now," the source said."She is focused on her upcoming [Little Miss Drama Tour] and family while figuring out their next steps."
Cardi and Diggs share a son, whom they refer to as "Baby Brim" or "Baby Touchdown," born in November 2025. Cardi also shares three children with estranged husband Offset, though their divorce has reportedly not yet been finalized.
