Hollywood legend Samuel L. Jackson has candidly shared his views on awards, asserting that winning, not just being nominated, is the true honor. Speaking in a recent interview with the Associated Press while promoting The Piano Lesson alongside Michael Potts, Jackson dismissed the oft-repeated sentiment that being nominated is enough.
“We’ve been in the business long enough to know that when folks go, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No it ain’t. It’s an honor to win,” Jackson stated. He further explained that nominations often fade from memory, even for notable performances. “You get nominated and folks go, ‘Yeah, I remember that.’ Or most people forget. Generally, it’s a contest you didn’t volunteer to be in. I didn’t go in there so I could flex. ‘Let me do my scene, so you can remember who I was.’”
Jackson’s singular Oscar nomination came in 1995 for his iconic role as Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. Despite the critical acclaim, he lost the Best Supporting Actor award to Martin Landau for Ed Wood. Reflecting on that moment, he recalled muttering “s***” as Landau’s name was announced, a reaction that went viral.
In 2022, Jackson received an Honorary Academy Award for lifetime achievement. While he appreciated the recognition, he noted, “It didn’t feel honorary. It just felt like I was getting an Oscar. I earned it. I worked for it.” He added, “I can possibly name four other instances where I could have won or should have been nominated, but I’m fine with it. It’s mine. I got it. My name’s on it.”
One role Jackson felt deserved Oscar recognition was Carl Lee Hailey in Joel Schumacher’s A Time to Kill (1996). In a previous interview, he revealed that a pivotal scene, which showcased the depth of his character’s motivations, was cut during editing. “It looked like I killed those dudes and then planned every move to make sure I was going to get away with it. When I saw it, I was sitting there like, ‘What the f***?’” he said.
Even outside of film, Jackson’s candid reactions have made waves. At the 2023 Tony Awards, he was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Piano Lesson but lost to Brandon Uranowitz.

American rapper Kanye West has been accused of sexual assault by America’s Next Top Model alum Jenn An. According to legal documents from US Weekly, An, 39, filed a lawsuit against West, 47, on Saturday, November 23. An accused West of sexual assault and stifling during the filming of the In for the Kill music video in 2009.
An began her modelling career in 2009 after competing on season 13 of America’s Next Top Model. Following her success on the reality series, An was hired to appear in the music video, which took place in September 2010. The documents claimed West's appearance in the video was arranged to increase its exposure. (The final version of the music video does not include an appearance from West or An.) The rapper allegedly arrived on set at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City with his entourage, which included then-girlfriend Selita Ebanks, Yahoo reported.
She claimed that West took over production from the video’s directors. An alleged that West made the other models line up in the hallway where he evaluated their appearances. According to An, West selected two other women and told them to follow him. He also pointed to her and said, “Give me the Asian girl.” An claimed that she was taken into a suite with a long couch and a camera placed in front of it. West allegedly directed An to sit next to him on the couch in front of other crew members.
The model was wearing lingerie and pointed out to West she was “not wearing very much.” West allegedly replied, “That’s why I chose you.” West allegedly ordered the team to start the playback music. Other models were allegedly dismissed as West and An continued to film. An claimed that West instructed the crew to reposition the cameras so West could see the footage as they filmed. As the cameras shifted, West allegedly stood over An and began to choke her with one hand, and the situation allegedly got worse. "This is art. This is f—ing art, West allegedly said, per An.
The rapper is also rumoured to be missing in action in co- parenting with his ex- wife Kim Kardashian. This is evident after Kim opened up about raising her kids as a single parent. The mother of four said raising her kids alone was tough on her as she hinted that her ex-husband, West, was missing in action.

The RnB singer Khalid has opened up about his sexuality after being exposed by his ex- boyfriend. The Grammy-nominated “Location” hit maker downplayed coming out as gay after he claims someone beat him to the punch and he “got outted.” After confirming his sexuality, Khalid wrote, “the world still continues to turn.”
Singer Hugo Almonte reportedly shared a photo of himself with Khalid and alleged that the “American Teen” artist “lied and said that I broke into his house,” according to Rolling Stone. Almonte also claims that he broke up with the singer. This revelation from Almonte made Khalid publicly declare his sexuality.
In a statement to the magazine, Almonte said he did not intend to out anyone but rather sought “to share my story and share how he tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship.” Almonte, who did not name Khalid, also alleged he has faced death threats and denied he was “chasing clout” with his tweets about the singer.
The seven-time Grammy nominee, 26, shared a series of posts on X Friday night, in which the hitmaker said he was neither “ashamed” of being gay or “hiding anything” while noting that his sexuality is “nobodies [sic] business.” In his first post, Khalid shared a rainbow flag emoji along with three exclamation marks, adding, “there yall go. Next topic please lol.”
Khalid kept posting through it, explaining … “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me. Love y’all” Most social media users in the comments were being supportive, with some saying it’s not a huge shock, pointing to his 2022 song, “Satellite,” which some say is an LGBTQ anthem.”
