Pro Football Hall of Famer and media personality Shannon Sharpe has announced the postponement of his highly anticipated “Nightcap” podcast tour, co-hosted with former NFL wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. The decision comes in the wake of a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit filed against Sharpe by a former romantic partner.
The lawsuit, filed in Nevada on April 20, 2025, accuses Sharpe of sexual battery, emotional abuse, and rape during a two-year “rocky consensual relationship.” The plaintiff, who initially remained anonymous, alleges that Sharpe secretly recorded intimate encounters and once threatened her life. Sharpe has vehemently denied all allegations, labeling the lawsuit as a “shakedown” and asserting that the relationship was entirely consensual.
In a recent episode of the “Nightcap” podcast, Sharpe addressed the situation, stating, “We’ve decided to postpone the Nightcap tour. We look forward to seeing you guys in the summer of 2026. It’s going to be even bigger, even better. But Ocho and I have come to the conclusion that this is the best thing as of right now.”
The tour, Initially scheduled for the summer of 2025, was set to visit eight cities across the United States. Fans who had purchased tickets are being advised to hold onto them, as they will be honored for the rescheduled dates in 2026. In addition to postponing the tour, Sharpe has taken a temporary leave from his role as a commentator on ESPN’s “First Take.” He announced his decision to step away from the show on April 24, 2025, stating that he would be devoting this time to his family and addressing the allegations.
As the case progresses, Sharpe’s legal team has indicated that they will vigorously defend against the allegations. In the meantime, fans and industry observers alike await further updates on the status of the lawsuit and Sharpe’s professional endeavors.
