Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about the emotional aftermath of her breakup with Klay Thompson, admitting that the relationship left her feeling like she had lost part of herself.

The 31-year-old rapper discussed the split in her September cover story for InStyle, months after she and the NBA star ended their yearlong relationship. Megan previously alleged that Thompson had been unfaithful, and she has now revealed more about what she learned from the experience.

"I'm trying my best," Megan said, describing the period as extremely difficult. "I feel like I've been put through the washing machine and the dryer with tins, shovels, and a cactus. It was very rough."

Looking back, Megan said she realized she had been trying too hard to make the relationship work, even when it meant compromising who she was.
"I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn't belong, trying to fit myself into someone else's life," she explained. "I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again."

The experience has also helped her establish clearer boundaries for future relationships. Megan said trust, fidelity and respect are now non-negotiable, adding that she will not accept being minimized for the sake of a relationship.

"I cannot be a person who is not gonna be me," she said. "I cannot not go to work. I'm going to be Megan Thee Stallion."

The Grammy winner emphasized that she wants an equal partnership rather than a relationship in which she is expected to take a back seat.

"I will not be behind any man. I will have a partner. I will be equals with my partner. I'm never gonna take the backseat to anything," she said.

Megan also reflected on how fame has changed the way she approaches relationships. As her profile grew, she said she realized she had been too willing to trust people and make herself available to those who did not always reciprocate.

"Everybody doesn't deserve you," she said.

For now, Megan appears content to be single while reconnecting with herself. She said she has been happier than she has been in a long time and wants to carry those lessons into any future romance.
