Police in Los Angeles say gunfire struck the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna on Sunday afternoon, triggering a swift response from officers and ending with a suspect taken into custody.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the property shortly after 1:15 p.m. local time following reports that several shots had been fired toward the residence.
Investigators say a woman believed to be in her 30s stopped a vehicle outside the home and opened fire before quickly driving away from the scene.
Police later located the vehicle roughly eight miles away and detained the suspect without incident. Her name has not yet been publicly released as the investigation continues.
Authorities say several shell casings consistent with an assault style rifle were recovered near the property, though officials have not confirmed what weapon was ultimately seized.
No injuries were reported and law enforcement sources say the singer was inside the home when the shots were fired but was unharmed.
The Barbados born performer, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, has lived in the upscale neighborhood for several years with partner A$AP Rocky and their children.
The couple welcomed their third child last year and have largely kept family life private despite intense global attention surrounding their careers and public appearances.
Rihanna first rose to international fame in the early 2000s with chart topping singles and has since expanded her influence far beyond music into fashion, beauty and business.
Her cosmetics brand and lingerie label have become global successes, helping establish her as one of the wealthiest entertainers in the world.
Police say detectives are now working to determine a possible motive and whether the suspect had any prior connection to the singer or the property.
The investigation is being handled by Los Angeles Police Department robbery homicide detectives, who are reviewing evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Representatives for the artist have not yet issued a public statement regarding the shooting.
Authorities say additional details may be released once investigators complete an initial review of the incident.
For now, officials stress that the situation remains under active investigation and evidence collection continues.
