Rising rap star Monaleo (Leondra Gay) has opened up to fans about a significant medical emergency that has altered her life and health journey. In a series of candid social media posts, the “Beating Down Yo Block” artist revealed that she recently underwent urgent surgery which resulted in the removal of one of her ovaries and a fallopian tube.

The 24-year-old Houston native, who has been celebrated for her vulnerability regarding mental health and motherhood in the past, took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to explain her recent absence from the spotlight. Monaleo described a harrowing experience involving sudden, localized abdominal pain that escalated rapidly, leading her to seek immediate medical attention. After a series of tests, doctors determined that emergency intervention was necessary to prevent further complications, which sources suggest may have been related to a severe case of ovarian torsion or a ruptured cyst.

“I’m still processing everything that happened, but I wanted to be honest with y’all,” Monaleo shared in a heartfelt post from her recovery bed. “I unfortunately lost an ovary and a fallopian tube during the procedure. It was a scary moment where I had to choose my life and my long-term health over everything else. I’m hurting, both physically and emotionally, but I’m so grateful to the surgeons who acted fast.”

The news has sparked an outpouring of support from the hip-hop community and fans alike. Many have praised the rapper for her transparency, noting that her story highlights the importance of women advocating for their health in medical spaces. Monaleo, who welcomed her first child with fellow rapper Stunna 4 Vegas in 2023, touched upon the emotional weight of the loss, acknowledging the fears many women face regarding fertility after such procedures. However, she remained resilient, stating, “I’m a fighter, and I know my body is capable of incredible things. Right now, the focus is just on healing.”

As she begins her recovery process, Monaleo has confirmed that several upcoming performance dates will be postponed to allow her the necessary time to rest. Her team released a brief statement asking for privacy during this sensitive time, noting that the rapper plans to return to the studio once she is cleared by her medical team. For now, the “Miss Birdie” rapper is prioritizing peace and recuperation at home in Texas.
