In a recent health scare, popular bodybuilder and YouTube personality Kali Muscle was rushed to the hospital after fainting during a workout at a California gym. Kali Muscle, whose real name is Chuck Kirkendall, was reportedly in the middle of a training session when he suddenly lost consciousness, prompting gym staff and bystanders to call emergency services. Paramedics arrived shortly after to stabilize the 50-year-old fitness star and transport him to a nearby medical facility for evaluation.
The news was first confirmed to TMZ by his ex-wife, Dvyne Dirkendall, who shared that while Kali was conscious following the incident, the specific cause of the collapse remains unknown. She noted that doctors are currently running a battery of tests to determine if the episode was related to his previous cardiac history. This latest incident has caused significant concern among his nearly 4 million subscribers, as the bodybuilder has been vocal about his past struggles with heart health.
In November 2021, Kali Muscle suffered a major heart attack caused by a 100% blockage in his left main coronary artery, a condition often referred to as a “widowmaker.” Following that near-fatal event, he underwent emergency surgery to have a stent inserted and significantly altered his lifestyle, often using his platform to warn younger athletes about the dangers of extreme bodybuilding and performance- enhancing substances. Since his recovery, he has pivoted his content toward health advocacy, longevity, and financial coaching, though he has remained a dedicated fixture in the gym.
While some fans have speculated that the fainting spell may have been caused by overexertion or dehydration, others remain wary of the long-term strain his heart has endured. Despite his fitness level, Kali has admitted in recent years to dealing with edema and other symptoms associated with his prior heart damage. His current wife, Helena Vladisavljević Kirkendall, has not yet issued a formal statement regarding his recovery timeline, though social media has been flooded with well-wishes from the global bodybuilding community. As of Monday, January 19, Kali remains under observation as medical professionals work to ensure his vitals are stable before he is cleared for discharge.
