Tyra Banks is once again redefining what it means to be cool, literally. The former supermodel, TV icon, and entrepreneur has announced her latest innovation: hot ice cream. The announcement sent the internet into confusion, excitement, and collective curiosity as people struggled to understand how something cold by definition could also be served hot. Banks, however, seems perfectly confident that her new idea will take the dessert world by storm.
Her company, Smize & Dream, already has an ice cream shop in Australia, inspired by her childhood memories with her mother, Carolyn London. Banks recalled their weekly “girls’ night” trips to the Häagen-Dazs shop in Hollywood, where they would share ice cream, talk about dreams, and plan for the future. It’s this nostalgic foundation that led her to create a brand all about creativity, confidence, and sweetness with a twist.
Now, Banks is promising “the world’s first hot ice cream experience,” describing it as “not a latte, not a hot chocolate,” but something entirely new. She calls the drink “Hot Mama,” which she says transforms your favorite scoops into a sippable treat. Social media, predictably, lost its mind, with users demanding explanations about what “hot ice cream” actually is. Critics from publications like Defector jokingly admitted they were both confused and intrigued, wondering if the product was custard, a milkshake, or just melted ice cream in disguise.
Still, Parade magazine reports that “Hot Mama” is designed as an interactive dessert, churned and warmed to a creamy consistency, allowing fans to sip ice cream in a new way. The product’s U.S. launch is expected this winter following a successful debut in Australia. Whether people end up loving or roasting the idea, one thing is clear, Tyra Banks has once again found a way to make headlines by mixing ambition with flavor.
