Cardi B has revealed why her divorce from Offset hasn't been finalized, accusing her estranged husband of using financial leverage to delay the process.

During a Sept. 22 livestream on X Spaces, Cardi, 32, explained that while she and Offset are legally separated, their marriage remains intact because of a dispute involving taxes and property.

"The only reason why I'm still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes," she said, strongly hinting at Offset, 33. "The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else's taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. This is not no love s---. I'm not gonna stop living my life."

The couple, who married in 2017, share three children: daughters Kulture, 7, and Blossom, 1, and son Wave, 4. Cardi previously filed for divorce in 2020 and again in July 2024. In May, TMZ reported that Offset requested joint custody of their kids and spousal support of an unspecified amount.

Cardi recently announced she is expecting her fourth child, her first with boyfriend and NFL star Stefon Diggs, 31. The rapper defended her decision to move forward with her pregnancy despite being legally married.

"Yes, I'm having a baby with somebody else. So what? That happens, it's life," she said. "I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love, I got two rings, and I lasted seven years in a marriage I didn't have to last in."

Cardi also pushed back against critics who claim she's rushing into her new relationship. "I'm practically still married because somebody wants to hold me hostage unless I give them millions," she said.

Offset addressed the split in his recent album Kiari, rapping about "moving on peacefully." Cardi, meanwhile, opened up about her regrets on her own album Am I the Drama?, wishing Offset "was a better person." When asked if she sees a future friendship with Offset, Cardi kept it blunt: "I tried. Next question."
