Singer and songwriter Muni Long came forward with manipulation allegations against Atlantic records. In a recent TikTok video, she shared three separate instances, with the first involving the song Timber by Pitbull and Kesha, released in 2013.

“First time. I write a song. The song is called Timber. Love it, they fall in love with the record. Me and Breyan had a great time in the studio writing the song. They’re like so do you want to give it to Flo (as in FloRida)? Oh my god this is incredible. I don’t know what happened the song ended up on Pitbull,” she said. Muni Long elaborated on the situation in her TikTok post, claiming that she wrote Timber’s hook, post-chorus, and bridge with Breyan Isaacs.

In a video, Muni Long claimed that her record label contacted her a few weeks before the song’s release, requesting that she come to the studio to “cut some vocals.” According to Long, the studio explained that the singer—widely presumed to be Kesha—was struggling to hit the high notes, prompting them to ask Long to re-record her parts to align with Kesha’s performance. Although Long did not explicitly name Kesha, many online users speculated she was referring to the featured artist in the final version. Long  also set the record straight after recently ruffling feathers over her refusal to write “‘soulful’ songs for non-melanated artists.”

Long was asked to change her original recording to match the new singer because “it is going to sound different and we need to have the same feel.”  “That’s the problem I have,” Long asserted. “You wanted it to feel a certain way, but you wanted it to look that way.” In addition to not getting paid, Long claims Kesha’s mother tried to get a percentage of publishing rights for the song.
