During the Late Night with Seth Meyers episode on Wednesday, May 7, Anna Wintour shared that even Simone Biles — an Olympic gold medalist —felt overwhelmed by the experience of walking the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
"She said to me that stepping onto the blue carpet was more nerve-wracking than competing in the Olympics," the 75-year-old Vogue editor said during her appearance alongside 2025 Met Gala co-chair A$AP Rocky.
Wintour playfully added, "We might add a pole vault to the carpet next year," turning to Rocky and joking, "Maybe Rihanna will start training for the 2028 Olympics. What do you think?"
The rapper, who revealed during fashion’s biggest night that he and Rihanna are expecting their third child, laughed and replied, "Maybe." Rihanna made a grand entrance in a Marc Jacobs outfit, proudly debuting her baby bump.
Simone Biles, who first attended the Met Gala in 2021, wore a custom Harbison Studio creation called the Seraphim dress — a vibrant blue, bustled mini dress adorned with sparkling black embellishments and finished with a glossy satin touch. She paired the look with sky-high heels — which she has jokingly estimated to be four to five inches tall — and a custom version of the Galaxy Cathedral Train in the same electric blue hue.
Her husband, Jonathan Owens, wore a crisp all-white suit by Deji & Kola, accented with blue and accessorized with a striking Margot McKinney pendant featuring a 119.44-carat aquamarine, a South Sea pearl, and multiple diamonds. He completed his look with a white fur cape and a sleek black cane.
This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, which explores how Black dandyism reflects identity and cultural expression.
Wintour also revealed that the couple subtly hinted at their baby news during a dinner the night before the gala. “We had dinner the evening before — me, Rihanna, Rocky, and a few others — and he was dropping all these clues. But I just kept quiet, very British of me,” she said.
On the red carpet, Rihanna and Rocky told livestream hosts Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony, and Ego Nwodim that getting ready for the event was "more stressful than the Olympics."
The couple also celebrated their second wedding anniversary that week, and Owens called the gala the “ultimate date night.”
“I’m just happy to be with my husband,” Biles shared, noting that they were currently doing long distance while he focused on his football career with the Chicago Bears.
Before the event, Biles posted behind-the-scenes moments on her Instagram Stories, including a cute selfie in a hotel robe, captioned “MET MONDAY.” In the photo, Owens — wearing a black tee and a chain — sweetly kisses her cheek.
