Grammy-winning artist Mariah Carey, 55, embarked on a meaningful journey to Brazil with her 13-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. This trip comes in the wake of profound personal loss, as Carey recently announced the deaths of her mother and sister on the same day in August 2024.
On September 21, 2024, Carey shared a touching moment on Instagram, posting a photo of herself and her children at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. "So grateful to finally visit Cristo Redentor while here in Rio with Roc and Roe! What a moment she captioned the image, which showed the family beaming beneath the cultural landmark.
This visit to Brazil is part of Carey's ongoing international performances. On September 20, she delivered what she described as "one of my favorite concerts ever" in São Paulo. The singer expressed her gratitude on social media, stating, "Brazil, the wait was worth it!" Carey is set to headline the 2024 Rock in Rio music festival on September 22, showcasing her enduring popularity and professional commitment.
Nick Cannon, Carey's ex-husband and father to the twins, recently spoke to Page Six about her coping mechanisms. "She's doing the best that she possibly can, considering the circumstances," Cannon said, emphasizing the importance of family support during this challenging time. He added that spending time with the children has been a source of comfort for Carey.
The Brazil trip follows closely on the heels of another family adventure to the Great Wall of China, where Carey humorously noted on X (formerly Twitter), "Someone should've warned me about heels " These global excursions with her children appear to be providing solace and distraction for the singer as she navigates her grief.
Despite the personal challenges, Carey is maintaining her professional commitments. Earlier this month, she shared on Instagram, "Back at work. It's been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone's love and support so much and I can't wait to see my fans in China & Brazil."
Looking ahead, Carey has announced her upcoming "Mariah Carey's Christmas Time" tour for 2024, set to cover 20 cities from November 6 to December 17. This tour demonstrates her resilience and dedication to her craft and fans, even in the face of personal tragedy.
