Following Charles Leclerc’s impressive performance at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) conducted extensive physical inspections on his upgraded Ferrari SF-24. Leclerc, driving the heavily revised Scuderia Ferrari machine, secured a podium finish, crossing the line eight seconds behind race winner Max Verstappen and ahead of Lando Norris.
The FIA’s post-race checks involve randomly selecting one of the top ten cars for a thorough examination. Introduced in 2021, this process aims to enhance existing procedures. For the Imola race, Leclerc’s race car number 16 was chosen for the comprehensive testing. The inspection covered critical components, including:
Sprung Suspension, where The FIA scrutinized the car’s sprung suspension system, ensuring compliance with the 2024 Formula One Technical Regulations.
Also Both front and rear dampers underwent rigorous assessment.
And not to forget the Inboard Suspension Components where All inboard suspension components were thoroughly examined.
Sensors and Connections: Attached sensors, their loom routing, and connections to various units were inspected.
And the SECU (Standard Electronic Control Unit): The SECU, a critical electronic component, was also part of the examination.
Thankfully, all inspected components met the technical regulations, providing Ferrari with a clean bill of health. Leclerc’s podium finish at Imola marked Ferrari’s first top-three result at the circuit since Michael Schumacher’s achievement in 2006.
Despite the positive outcome, the Scuderia remains focused on further improvements. Team insiders suggest that a full understanding of the new package will emerge between the Montreal and Barcelona races. Consequently, Ferrari plans to introduce their next significant update at the British Grand Prix in July. Team principal Fred Vasseur emphasized the need to gather data from multiple race scenarios before implementing further enhancements.
In the meantime, Ferrari enthusiasts can look forward to this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, where the team will debut a new high-load rear wing specification. The iconic street circuit presents unique challenges, and the Scuderia hopes that this aerodynamic upgrade will boost their performance.
As the Formula One season unfolds. Ferrari’s quest for victory continues, and fans worldwide eagerly await each twist and turn on the track.
