LeBron James wasted no time celebrating the Los Angeles Lakers’ dramatic 120-119 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night—especially at the expense of ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith.
In recent weeks, the two have been publicly feuding, with Smith previously calling LeBron a “liar” and claiming he would have “swung on him” if their confrontation at Crypto.com Arena had escalated. However, Smith acknowledged that such a fight would not have ended in his favor.
LeBron, never one to let a moment pass, took to Instagram to respond. He posted a two-slide update featuring footage of Smith’s boxing training and a popular reaction meme of Key Glock and the late Young Dolph. His caption? A simple yet mocking, “WHOMP WHOMP WHOMPPPPPPPP,” accompanied by a series of laughing emojis.
The post quickly gained traction, with fellow NBA stars including Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Draymond Green, and Paul Pierce joining in on the fun. Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant also chimed in, commenting, “Chill Bron!!!” on the post before doubling down on social media, seemingly giving LeBron the victory in their ongoing feud.
The conflict between LeBron and Smith has been ongoing, with Smith repeatedly addressing it on his podcast. LeBron, on the other hand, used an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show to clarify his side of the story, insisting that his issue with Smith stemmed from the commentator crossing the line with his coverage.
Smith did not appreciate LeBron’s comments and responded with the bold claim that he would have retaliated physically if the NBA star had put his hands on him. LeBron’s response was swift and brutal—posting the boxing video and letting social media do the rest.
Meanwhile, on the court, LeBron played a crucial role in the Lakers’ victory, securing the win with a put-back off Luka Dončić’s missed shot. After the game, he spoke to reporters about the team’s mindset moving forward, saying, “In order for us to win, we gotta defend.”
The Lakers now shift their focus to their upcoming matchups against the Chicago Bulls and the Memphis Grizzlies, while the online feud between LeBron and Stephen A. Smith shows no signs of cooling down.
