Larry Allen, widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history, has tragically passed away at the age of 59. Allen's death was confirmed by the Dallas Cowboys organization late Monday evening.

A statement from the Cowboys read: "Legendary Cowboys offensive lineman Larry Allen passed away unexpectedly this evening at the age of 59. Over a remarkable 14-year career, he paved the way for one of the most prolific offenses in team and league history. Allen was a true renaissance man and undoubtedly one of the greatest players ever to wear the iconic Cowboys star."

Allen was a first-round draft pick (46th overall) by the Cowboys in 1994 out of Sonoma State. He went on to play 12 seasons in Dallas before
finishing his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 and 2006. A dominant force on the offensive line, Allen made 11 consecutive Pro Bowl
appearances from 1995-2005.

"Larry Allen was as good as they come," said former Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. "Just a brutally physical and skilled player who made
everyone around him better. A Hall of Famer on and off the field. This is a devastating loss for Cowboys nation."

During his time in Dallas, Allen played a key role in one of the most prolific offensive lines in NFL history, helping pave the way for three Super Bowl victories in the 1990s. He was selected as a first-team All-Pro seven times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.

Troy Aikman, Allen's former Cowboys teammate, spoke glowingly about the big lineman. "Few people loved football more than Larry Allen. He was an absolute force on the field but an even better friend off it. My heart goes out to his wife and family during this unimaginably difficult time."

The cause of Allen's death was not immediately known as of Monday night. He is survived by his wife Janelle and their three children. Tributes
poured in from across the football world mourning the loss of one of the most dominant players of his generation.

No official details on memorial services have been announced yet. The Cowboys said they plan to honor Allen's legacy with a tribute at their home opener in September.
