Rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, was arrested in South Florida on October 25, 2024, facing charges of murder-for-hire. According to reports from Broward County Correctional Facility, the Chicago-based artist, known for his connections to the Only the Family (OTF) collective, is being held without bond while he awaits transfer to federal custody.
Lil Durk’s arrest follows an extensive investigation linked to the August 2022 shooting death of Saviay’a Robinson, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo. According to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, federal prosecutors allege that five OTF members were involved in a plot to murder Quando Rondo, allegedly as retaliation for the 2020 killing of Lil Durk’s close associate, King Von. Robinson was killed during an attack on Rondo and his crew at a gas station in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles, though Rondo himself survived.
Reports indicate that the five suspects, identified as members of Chicago’s OTF collective, were allegedly provided flights, rental cars, and a promise of “lucrative music opportunities” if they succeeded in the hit on Rondo. Prosecutors claim these resources were funded by credit cards linked to OTF, reportedly illustrating a coordinated and well-funded conspiracy. The five individuals, all natives of Chicago, now face multiple felony charges, including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and use of a machine gun in a violent crime, and await further proceedings in California.
