The world mourns the loss of Dora Moono Nyambe, a Zambian humanitarian and social media influencer who passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 32. Nyambe's profound impact on her community has left an indelible mark, making her sudden departure a deeply felt tragedy.

Nyambe's commitment to uplifting vulnerable children in Mapapa Village, Zambia, began as a temporary stay while renewing her visa. However, witnessing the harsh realities of child marriages and sexual abuse compelled her to stay and take action. In 2018, she founded *Footprints of Hope*, a nonprofit organization aimed at providing education, shelter, and a nurturing environment for underprivileged children. By the time of her passing, her efforts had resulted in the establishment of four schools accommodating over 500 children, complete with dormitories, a library, and a dining hall.

Her work transcended mere philanthropy, focusing on changing perceptions of African youth. "Yes, there are kids that are suffering. But that's not all they are. They are also amazing human beings," Nyambe once said in an interview. She showcased these qualities through art, sports, and education, challenging stereotypes and advocating for global support.

Social media played a significant role in amplifying Nyambe's mission. With over 4 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, she raised awareness about critical issues and mobilized resources for her projects. Her last TikTok video, posted days before her death, captured moments of joy and hope among the children she nurtured. The video's caption, "One day at a time," encapsulated her relentless optimism.

Despite her global acclaim, Nyambe remained deeply grounded, adopting over a dozen children and fostering more than 200. Her GoFundMe initiative to raise $80,000 for a new school bus had already surpassed $40,000 at the time of her passing, reflecting the widespread support for her endeavors.

Her funeral is set to take place on December 30 at Footprints of Hope School in Mapapa Village. A statement from her organization expressed gratitude to supporters while noting the challenges that delayed the burial. "Your kindness and generosity have been a source of great comfort and strength for the family during this period," it read.
