Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have officially backed Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign Barack Obama emphasized the significance of Harris's candidacy, stating, "Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office."
He noted that Democrats face challenges and that Harris must earn the trust of voters nationwide. Obama also emphasized the necessity of a unified message to all Americans, regardless of political party, and emphasized Harris's vision for a more inclusive and responsible America." And your vision for a generous, inclusive, positive, community- minded, responsible, lawful America that’s exactly what we need. So, I know, I know you’re gonna be working hard, but you’re gonna have a whole bunch of folks working alongside you," Obama said.
Michelle Obama expressed her pride in Harris, describing the upcoming election as "historic." In their joint statement, the Obamas highlighted Harris's qualifications, stating, "Kamala has more than a resume. She has the vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands."
Harris responded with gratitude, acknowledging the long-standing support and friendship from the Obamas. "Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you. Doug and I both and getting out there, being on the road. Most of
all I just want to tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship you have given over all these years mean more than I can express. Thank you so much and we're going to have fun with this too."
The Democratic Party is set to officially nominate Harris at their convention in August, with voting beginning on August 1. Harris is expected to announce her running mate shortly before the convention. The Obamas have pledged their full support, with Barack Obama stating, "We’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November."
