Kate Middleton is giving her health the first priority. As she continues her cancer treatment, the Princess of Wales will not be present at the Colonel Review prior to the Trooping the Color Ceremony on June 8.
A Kensington Palace representative told NBC News on May 30 that General James Bucknall, K.C.B., C.V.O., will carry out the role of Inspecting Officer this year.On behalf of HRH The Princess of Wales at Colonel's Review as shecontinues her recovery.
Hundreds of musicians and 1400 parading soldiers will celebrate the sovereign's birthday on June 8 and June 15, respectively, during the annual Colonel's Review and Trooping the Colour military ceremonies. All the events are almost the same;the Colonel's Review only adds a few more mounting officers.
Kate, who has children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis,6, with Prince William, would have had a bigger part in this year's ceremonies. The 42-year-old was, after all, made Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2023, and this year the unit is flying the colors. After resigning from her royal duties in January and revealing her cancer diagnosis in March, Kate has made her health her top priority.
The Kensington Palace reaffirmed earlier this month that Kate will uphold herprivacy during her medical care. A representative for the princess told the BBC on May 21 that the princess is notexpected to return to work until it's cleared by her medical team.The royal has also thanked the public in advance for honoring her privacy andpersonal space while she receives preventative chemotherapy.
These past few months have been extremely difficult, Kate said in a video posted on March 22. We hope that you'll understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment.
