Cam'ron's recent appearance on CNN to discuss Sean Combs's assault on Cassie Ventura has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The interview, hosted by Abby Phillip, quickly spiralled into a chaotic and comical event, displaying the rapper's unpredictability and refusal to conform to typical media narratives.
Initially, Phillip asked Cam'ron about his reaction to the shocking footage from 2016, which showed Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Cam'ron, whose real name is Cameron Giles, expressed his disapproval saying, "First of all, everything in the video was egregious. I don’t support all the charges alleged against him. I’m totally against it." He noted that while he knew Diddy, they were not friends, adding, "When I saw the video, yeah, I was kinda upset with it."
The interview took a heated turn when Phillip asked if Cam'ron recognized the anger displayed by Diddy in the footage. Misunderstanding the question, Cam'ron responded defensively, "I don’t know him like that. What do you mean do I recognize him? I seen it and I thought it was disgusting.I didn’t do a zoom in to see if it was really him or nothing, but he admitted it was him so yeah, it was him.”
Phillip then played a clip from Cam'ron’s sports show, It Is What It Is, where his co-host Mase discussed introducing Cam'ron to The Notorious B.I.G. instead of signing with Diddy's Bad Boy Records. Cam'ron's manner shifted as he promoted his Pink Horse Power sex supplement on camera, stating, "Sorry, I’m gonna get some cheeks after this Horse Power joint," much to Phillip's visible discomfort.
The interview continued to derail as Cam'ron questioned the relevance of his appearance on the show: "Who’s the talent agent for this joint? You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do? I didn’t know that this was a Diddy joint that you invited me to. Yo, who booked me for this joint? Y’all wildin'."
Following this outburst, Phillip abruptly ended the interview. The segment quickly became a viral sensation, with viewers sharing their amusement and disbelief on social media. One user remarked, "Yoooo Cam'ron on CNN got me weak," while another said, "I’m like 98.7% certain that Cam'ron will never be invited to CNN again."
Cam'ron later addressed the interview on his podcast, expressing frustration that CNN focused on the Diddy controversy rather than his own achievements "You invite me on CNN for the bullsh*t, I’m gonna give you the bullsh*t."
