NFL Responds to Controversial Speech Made by Chiefs Player Harrison Butker Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt wife and eldest daughter are weighing in on the controversy surrounding kicker Harrison Butker commencement speech at a Catholic college.
Tavia Hunt, who has been married to the billionaire businessman for more than 30 years, shared her thoughts about being a stay-at-home mom. May 16, five days after the athlete sparked mixed reactions over his remarks at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., in which he said most female graduates would be most excited about marriage and motherhood. I've always encouraged my daughters to be highly educated and chase their dreams, the 52-year-old posted on Instagram with old photos of herself with her children.
She and Clark also have daughters, Gracie Hunt, 25, and Ava Hunt, 18, as well as a son, Knobel Hunt, 20.I want them to know that they can do whatever they want (that honors God). But I also want them to know that I believe finding a spouse who loves and honors you as or before himself and raising a family together is one of the greatest blessings this world has to offer.
Tavia, a prominent figure in the field of education, emphasized the importance of affirming motherhood and praising women for their sacrifices and dedication. She argued that disagreements with one views do not necessarily mean hatred, but rather a different opinion. Tavia also urged people to celebrate families, motherhood, and fatherhood. She emphasized the need for dedicated men and women to educate the next generation and called for more dialogue and values in the country.
On May 17, Gracie discussed her feelings about Harrison speech.I grew up with the most amazing mother who could stay at home and spend time with us, she remarked on Fox & Friends. And I am aware that a lot of women are unable to make that choice. However, I am aware that it had a significant formative role in my life and in the development of my siblings and me. Gracie said, Yes, and I really respect Harrison and his Christian faith and what he accomplished on and off the field, in response to the question of whether she understood what Harrison was talking about in his speech.
Harrison, 28, addressed the female graduates directly in his speech. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. Harrison has not publicly responded to criticism of his remarks.
A different section of Harrison statement stated that things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and euthanasia, as well as a growing support for degenerate cultural values in the media, all stem from the pervasiveness of disorder. In a different part of his speech, he quoted a lyric from Taylor Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, referring to the 14-time Grammy winner solely as his teammate girlfriend.
The NFL had responded to the Chiefs kicker comments amid the controversy. The league senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, Jonathan Beane, told People in a statement that Harrison Butker made a speech in his personal capacity. The NFL as an organization does not share his opinions. The NFL is unwavering in its dedication to diversity, which strengthens our league even more
