The BET awards was established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate black entertainers in music, film, sports and even philanthropy. The inauguration event occurred at Paris Las Vegas resort. Hosts of the BET Awards have included Steve Harvey, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Leslie Jones, Cedric the entertainment and Will and Jada Smith. The award winners are determined by 500 members of the voting academy.
The nominations list for this year’s award has been officially released, with Drake leading the nominations with 7, followed by Nicki Minaj with 6. This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, June, 30, 2024 and will air on BET live from Los Angeles at 8PM ET/PT.
The 2024 BET awards nominations for best male Hip-hop artist are: 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Drake, Future, Gunna, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne. The nominations for best female hip-hop artist are: Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Doja Cat, Sexyy red, Ice Spice, Glorilla, Latto and Megan Thee Stallion.
The 2024 BET awards nominations for album of the year include: Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj, 11:11 by Chris Brown, A gift & a curse by Gunna, American dream by 21 savage, coming home by Usher, For all the dogs (Scary house edition) by Drake, Jaguar II by Victoria Monet and Michael by Killer Mike.

The nominations for best female RnB/ pop artist are: Doja Cat, Beyoncé, H.E.R, Coco Jones, Muni Long, SZA, Tyla and Victoria Monet. The nominations for best male RnB/ pop artist include: Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Drake, Fridayy, October London and Usher.
