Fans shouldn't expect new music from Adele in the near future. During a July 14 interview with German outlet ZDF, the "Skyfall" singer, 36, revealed she'll be focusing on "other creative things" for a while.
“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” Adele stated. “I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.” She added, "I don't like being famous. I love that I get to make music all the time."
Adele has historically taken significant breaks between albums. She released her debut album, 19, in 2008, followed by 21 in 2011, 25 in 2015, and her latest, 30, in 2021. In a December 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned she "hadn't even thought about" new music. "I have to wait for a feeling," she said. "If I get antsy, that’s when I know I have to go to the studio, and I am the opposite of antsy right now.”
Regarding other creative ventures, Adele expressed interest in a particular movie role. “The guy whose movie it would be, he’s not mentally ready to write the script for it," she explained. "That’s the only role I ever want. Because I think I’d nail it. I think I’d do really, really, really good at it.”
Adele is set to perform a series of residency shows in Germany at the Munich Messe arena from August 2 to August 24, which she announced on
Instagram in January. "I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer," she wrote.
Following her German residency, Adele will resume her Las Vegas residency, with shows scheduled for October 25, October 26, November 1, November 2, November 8, November 9, November 15, November 16, November 22, and November 23. Her Las Vegas residency was initially set to conclude on June 15.
