Ozempic, a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes has often been used for weight loss, since that is its prominent side effect. Semaglutide, the active ingredient in ozempic has been used to treat obesity. American singer Kandi Burruss has recently admitted to using ozempic and that it has caused her to be depressed. During an interview on Page Six's virtual Reali- Tea podcast, she claims that she saw many people who are trying to lose weight use it and worked for them.

Kandi Burruss went ahead to explain how the drug did not work for her and how her doctor was shocked that the drug did not help her lose weight. “Last year, I tried it,” she told the outlet. “I saw so many people who were trying it and losing weight so I was like ‘okay I'm going to try this’ and I didn't lose any weight.” Kandi went ahead to say she did not curb her appetite, instead she was eating appetizers, a regular meal and dessert.

“My doctor was like, ‘I don't know what the problem is, I'm not seeing this in other people,” she said, referring to her doctor's concerns. She also stated that ozempic made her depressed, something that made her believe that it was wrong for her body. “When you see it worked for other people and it doesn't work for you, it makes you depressed,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta alum said.

The Grammy award winning artist went ahead to claim that she began adding weight after her exit from Real Housewives of Atlanta. “After I left ‘housewives’ I was eating good, living good. Now, mind you at the top of the year. But when I announced that I was not going to do ‘housewives’ anymore, I was eating dessert everyday, taking trips, just living it up. Before I knew it, I was like 170 something pounds and it was not cute.” Kandi Burruss claims that she is now trying to lose weight differently.
