After the “ last time I saw you” rapper, Nicki Minaj won best female hip-hop artist at the BET Awards, Lil Mama took to social media to degrade her. According to Lil Mama Nicki Minaj has an over sexualized persona which has negatively impacted hip-hop as a genre. She also claims that Nicki Minaj is a “musical prostitute” influenced by fellow rapper Lil Kim.
Under video of controversial rapper Sexyy Red’s performance, Lil Mama commented, “They gave Nicki an award for leading this Park. Corporate “bars” by going over our head. They laughing at us for sure! These women are not influenced by Kim, Nicki is influenced by Kim. These woman are 23.”
“What major musical prostitutes from the last do you remember from the last 15 years who do you think they watched corporate give a platform and flowers for sitting out. be forreal. The award was a ‘thanks to you now we have seven eight nine of them,” she wrote, referring to Nicki Minaj's win.
Her comments had mixed reactions from social media users, some agreeing with her while some accused her of being jealous of Nicki Minaj. When Lil Mama was asked why she decided to drag the music icon's name in such a conversation in the first place, she replied “because I can.” This is not the first time Lil Mama has had issues with Nicki Minaj, she occasionally used to accused Nicki of stealing her style.
After fans dragged her on social media, Lil Mama wrote “There was definitely options in style and content. It's all love, God is the greatest and these women are gonna wake up and realized that they are worth more than any price tag, sometimes we can't see ourselves. We are just leaving so I can (understand) how this can happen and feel normal.”
