In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, legendary comedian Eddie Murphy shared his thoughts on the romance between his son Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of his longtime friend and collaborator Martin Lawrence. The relationship, which became public in June 2021, has sparked interest due to the famous lineage of both parties involved.

Murphy expressed a positive outlook on the couple, stating, "We were just like, 'It's cool.' They're both beautiful. They look amazing together." He humorously added, "Everybody [asks], 'What, is that baby going to be funny?' Like, just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby." The comedian playfully speculated that if Eric and Jasmin ever marry and have a child, he expects the offspring to inherit their grandfathers' comedic talents.

The relationship between Eric, 34, and Jasmin, 28, has been openly affectionate on social media. Jasmin previously shared a heartfelt birthday message for Eric on Instagram, writing, "I'm so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side." Eric reciprocated the sentiment, declaring he was "Head over heels in LOVE with YOU."

When asked about potential wedding plans, Murphy jokingly deflected financial responsibility onto Martin Lawrence. "Well, customarily the father pays for daughter, am I correct? That's the way it goes down," he quipped. Murphy added, "Bad Boys is out of the park and Martin has lots and lots of money, so he should be able to pay for a splendid wedding."

The two comedy icons have a long-standing friendship and professional relationship, having co-starred in films like "Boomerang" (1992) and "Life" (1999). Their children's romance adds a new dimension to their connection.

Murphy, a father of 10, and Lawrence, who has three daughters, have both taken a hands-off approach to their children's relationship. Lawrence previously told Jimmy Kimmel, "We kind of just stay out of their business and let them do their own thing and respect their thing."

As for his parenting style, Murphy described himself as a "cool dad" who is present for important moments in his children's lives. "I've always been the same type of dad," he explained. "I'm just laid back, I'm not a super-hard disciplinarian. But I don't let them get away with all kinds of stuff."

The potential union of these two comedy dynasties continues to captivate fans and media alike, with many eagerly anticipating what the future may hold for Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence.
